Moved my 15k newsletter from ConvertKit to Brew — here's why

newsletter_nerdNewsletter Creator

I ran my newsletter on ConvertKit for 2 years. It was great for getting started — free tier, simple interface, creator-friendly. But as I grew to 15k subscribers, I needed more.

Why I outgrew ConvertKit

  • Limited analytics (no click heatmaps, no revenue attribution)
  • No A/B testing on automation sequences
  • Template design options are very basic
  • Wanted API access for custom integrations

Why I chose Brew over Mailchimp/others

Brew offered everything I needed: better analytics, API-first approach for my custom website, AI subject line testing, and reasonable pricing. The migration was smooth — Brew's import tool brought over subscribers, tags, and sequences.

Results after 60 days

Open rate improved from 42% to 48%. I attribute most of that to better deliverability infrastructure. The AI subject line suggestions are a nice bonus — they have won 6 out of 8 A/B tests.

ConvertKit is great for starting out but you outgrow it quickly once you need analytics and A/B testing. Brew seems like the natural next step for newsletter creators.

Brew is building a strong creator community. I think they are going to be the go-to recommendation for newsletter creators who want more than ConvertKit offers.

The 48% open rate post-migration is excellent. Brew's deliverability infrastructure must be solid if you are seeing improvement from ConvertKit which is already decent.
